I’m a Lazy Spring Break Mom and YOU CAN TOO!

I’m a Lazy Spring Break Mom and YOU CAN TOO!

Ah, spring break.  No school, no homework, no commitments.

WELCOME BACK YOU BEAUTIFUL THING, YOU!!

I just wanted to hop on here real quick to support my dear readers who may be a bit like me…a bit lazy.  And to give you a great big giant hang in there, mama!!  Because, you know what?

I see you.

Yes, you.  The mom who is tired of the hustle and bustle.  The mom who is snowbound in the umpteenth nor’easter of the year.  Or the one who just wants a freaking break from the post-Christmas, pre-summer monotony.

I see you looking so forward to not having to get your kids’ behinds out of bed when it’s still dark outside.

I see you glowing with happiness that you won’t have to fight anyone over spelling words or vocab quizzes for an entire week.

I see your elation because for one blessed week you don’t have to volunteer in the classroom or drive carpool or find matching shoes for your angry preschooler.

But, do you know what else I see?

…panic at the piles of dishes that will fill your sink.

…anxiety over the amount of food you are going to have to feed your little darlings.

…dismay at the disaster pit your home just might become

And, my friend, I am with you!  I am with you SO HARD!  But, you wanna know something else?

I ain’t doin’ it!

Nope.  I’m sure not.  Next week, when my kids are out of school for the week, you will not find me…

going on vacation.

spending loads of money keeping them “entertained” every bloody minute of the day.

caring if they watch more TV than they “should.”

catering to their every gastronomic desire.

cleaning up their messes.

waking up at the butt crack of dawn.

forcing my teenager out of bed before 10:00 am.

Basically, I plan on being a Lazy Spring Break Mom.  And I can’t wait.

Here’s your Permission Slip

Believe me, friends.  I know how tempting it is to want to fill every minute with something fun that “everybody” on Instagram/FB/Twitter is doing.  The pressure is constantly on to be the Cool Mom or the Popular Mom or the Fun Mom.  And, if that is your style, then by all means YOU DO YOU, my dear!!!

But me?  I feel like being a rebel this year.  I want to revel in doing maybe one or two fun things that don’t break the bank, but otherwise just letting my kids run wild in the neighborhood with their friends.  If spontaneous play dates pop up?  Great!  If I feel super generous one morning and decide to make a big ol’ breakfast and then let them scrounge for lunch?  Awesome!  And if not?  That’s fine, too.

If you are like me and want to be the Lazy Spring Break Mom, fantastic!!  But if you’re a little hesitant, a little leery, I got your back.  Consider this your permission slip.

We’re in this together, mamas!  I hope that, however you and your family choose to do Spring Break this year, you enjoy the special time with your kiddos and get to kick back and relax a little bit.  Reset, refuel, and re-energize for the slippery slope into the end of the school year that is April and May!!
